Welcome to Sexy Men…Sassy Women

A bestselling author, a medevac pilot, a hotshot lawyer, a bodyguard, a football coach and a children’s book author…all sexy, sensitive men who can be stubborn and infuriating.

A reclusive artist, a CEO, a family court judge, a businesswoman, a college professor and a celebrity food channel host… all successful, smart and sassy women who try to tame the men they love.

In PLAYING FOR KEEPS, the Buckland Bulls professional football team sets up their summer training camp at Beckett College, and former linebacker, Mike “The King” Kingston, now a celebrity coach, upsets Dr. Jacelyn Ross’ academic life. First he mistakes her for a student where, in reality, she heads the business department. Then he accuses her of being a biased, stuffy teacher. But when he muscles his way into her personal life, and worse, falls for her, Jacelyn experiences a totally different kind of emotion. Faced with accusations of professional misbehavior, Jacelyn won’t admit she likes the rugged coach and, eventually, that she’s fallen in love with him. Because they can’t avoid contact, tension mounts.

Based on the football training camp of the Buffalo Bills at a college in upstate New York (where the author did extensive research), PLAYING FOR KEEPS combines real life conflict with a fictional love story that will knock your socks off.

I know Ms. Shay is married but I don't know if she's a mother. That may be here nor there but this book was one of the WORST depictions of parenting I've ever read with parents not abusive, or anything horrible like that.

As a reader you forget that Kyle is 19 years old. NINETEEN. The boy can vote, join the military, walk down to the courthouse and marry his girlfriend, own a house and a crap load of other adult things yet his parents honestly act like he's 16. Allowing him to befriend someone, allowing his to be influenced, telling him it's okay to do this do that, I'm surprised the didn't dictate how he wipes his butt or what he wears.

Overall the story started promising but the issues in this story revolve around 40 something year old parents who act like they have a elementary school child, a boy who's confused as hell and just all around childishness and AWFUL AWFUL parenting. They're not even CPS worthy parents but to be so normal my God, the heroine here Jacelyn should NOT be a mother.

I'm usually more wordy but I can't spot shaking at just how God awful and childish the parenting in this book was. Cool, Ms. Shay went to the Bills actual training camp and all that other jazz but that "stuff" doesn't make up for a horrible relationship between a hero and heroine because the heroine is a really awful, umbilical clutching mother and there's a piss poor absent, manipulative ex husband in the mix. And Ms. Shay doesn't even make him sorry for all his BS. At the 11th hour climax, it's revealed that all the issues surrounding the H and h's breakup is due to her letting her ex husband manipulate her over something stupid and when confronted the man actually says "he's not sorry" then just simply goes up to bed and he's done with. No karma for him or anything. Really Ms. Shay? Are you serious?!?!?!

Yuck. The only plus to this book is that I can't return it. At the beginning I actually thought it would be a keeper but gee freaking whiz.

Liked it ..well written and interesting
Just like the other Kathryn Shay books I have read, I enjoyed it. I love her series books but this one didn't disappoint!
Great book by a great author - I love having the book on . I will read this again! Thank you!
I love Kathryn Shay books and sports romance. Great story and characters. Once I started I couldn't put it down.
This book is way way too much about no he said no she said. Never believing anything the other said or always jumping the gun. The two main characters were both stubborn and babies. The mother and main woman in this book was in some chapters strong and bold. Then in others shes sssuuuccchhh a push over and easily walked over. The main guy in this book I liked though some times he jumps the gun way way too fast. The pace of the book so slow too and when they finally and I mean finallly get together THE BOOK ENDS. What the hell. Not worth the buy or read to be honest.
Romantic, hot, funny amazing story line and the characters are realistic. It is hard to find a great romance these days- I will read this one again!
While this was very good it didn't grab me like so many of her other books. Having said that, I will read anything Kathryn Shay writes as I just love her. She has given me many pleasureable hours.
